Aesthetic breast surgery covers augmentation with implants or autologous fat, breast lift, breast reduction and the correction of gynecomastia in men. Because every breast is anatomically unique, each procedure follows an individual surgical plan rather than a standard protocol. Dr. Spiegl performs exclusively aesthetic breast procedures, in Salzburg and the Tullnerfeld.

Body surgery removes excess tissue and restores contour after significant weight loss, pregnancy or natural ageing — from abdominoplasty and bodylift to arm and thigh lift, liposuction and the Mommy Makeover. Which procedure is appropriate depends on the extent of the excess, on skin quality and on the condition of the muscle wall; liposuction is not a substitute for a lift. A stable body weight is a prerequisite for a lasting result in every case.

Facial surgery works on the areas where ageing shows first: the eyelids and brows, the lips, the jawline and neck, and the shape of the ears. The aim is not a transformation but the restoration of one’s own original form — which is why the findings decide the method, and an eyelid lift will not open up the eyes if the cause lies in descended brows. Most of these procedures are performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia.

Unlike the aesthetic procedures, hand surgery is medically indicated: it restores function. Nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel, and tendon or connective tissue conditions such as trigger finger, Dupuytren’s disease and ganglion cysts, lead if left untreated to loss of strength or permanent damage — so the timing of treatment is itself part of the outcome. Dr. Spiegl has many years of experience in hand and microsurgery, and most of these procedures take under an hour under local or regional anaesthesia.
