How a vampire facelift with PRP works

A vampire facelift can be used both for skin rejuvenation and to treat hair loss. Find out below exactly how each treatment works.

Vampire facelift for skin rejuvenation

During a vampire facelift, a small amount of blood is drawn and then centrifuged to isolate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This plasma is then injected into the skin to promote cell regeneration and collagen production. The treatment causes minimal pain. However, a numbing cream can be applied before the injections to reduce sensitivity to pain.

A PRP treatment can also be excellently combined with hyaluronic acid, vitamin, and amino acid treatments (e.g. NCTF by Fillmed) to produce immediate effects and support the tissue during regeneration.

The results of a vampire facelift can last several months. It is generally recommended to repeat the treatment at regular intervals to achieve optimal, long-term results. If you decide on this therapy, you should expect to need at least three treatment sessions to achieve good results.

PRP/platelet-rich plasma therapy for hair loss

In PRP therapy for hair loss, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is likewise obtained from your own blood and injected into the scalp. This stimulates the hair follicles and promotes hair growth. As with skin rejuvenation, a numbing cream can be applied to the scalp to minimize pain during the injections. Results may vary, but many patients see an improvement in hair growth after several sessions. Here too, regular treatments are required to achieve the best results.

The entire PRP treatment process spans several weeks and can vary depending on individual needs and the condition of your skin or hair. Below is an overview of the individual steps.

Initial consultation and medical history

In a detailed consultation, Dr. Spiegl works with you to analyze your wishes and expectations. Only in this way can appropriate treatment be guaranteed. It’s important to remember that a PRP treatment activates the tissue’s own self-healing powers, and results become visible slowly, over time. In addition, contraindications are ruled out and your health status, including underlying conditions and medications, is reviewed.

Day of the plasma lift

Medications generally do not need to be adjusted or paused, though this will be discussed separately with Dr. Spiegl. The minimally invasive treatment requires no anesthesia, although a numbing cream can be applied. After the lift, mild swelling or redness may occur, which subsides quickly. Driving is generally possible, as long as there are no impairing side effects.

After plasma therapy

After plasma therapy, the healing phase usually lasts a few days to about a week, depending on individual healing. During this time, direct sun exposure should be avoided. It’s also important to follow Dr. Spiegl’s aftercare instructions closely. Showering is usually allowed the day after treatment, but hot baths should be avoided for about three days.

You may apply makeup again after about 24 hours, provided there is no irritation. Sun protection is essential when spending time outdoors. Follow-up examinations are often not strictly necessary, except in the event of complications or questions, to monitor healing progress. In addition, several sessions are usually planned to optimize the result.

A PRP session in Salzburg with Dr. Spiegl costs €350 without add-ons, or €450 when combined with NCTF or other skin booster add-ons.

Possible risks and side effects

With PRP treatment, the most common issues are mild bruising, swelling, and tenderness at the injection site. These side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days. Extremely rarely, infections or allergic reactions can occur. It’s important to follow Dr. Spiegl’s instructions after treatment and keep the treated area clean to avoid complications.
