When is an eyebrow lift sensible?

An eyebrow lift can be sensible if:

• the eyebrows have drooped and weigh down the upper eyelids,
• the gaze appears tired or exhausted,
• forehead or frown lines develop due to compensatory lifting of the brows,
• a blepharoplasty (upper eyelid lift) alone is not sufficient to achieve the desired opening.

The different methods of eyebrow lifting

1. Direct Eyebrow Lift

In a direct eyebrow lift, a fine strip of skin is removed directly above the eyebrow, thereby lifting the brow in a targeted manner.
This method is particularly suitable for:

• significant excess skin,
• asymmetrical brows,
• older patients with stable forehead skin.

Advantage: Very precise lifting with a targeted effect, highly feasible under local anesthesia.
Disadvantage: Small, fine scar directly above the brow (usually inconspicuous after healing).

2. Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift

The endoscopic procedure is performed via small incisions within the hairline. Using a mini-camera (endoscope), the tissue under the forehead is mobilized and the brows are gently raised.
Advantage: No visible scars, very gentle approach.
Disadvantage: Slightly more complex procedure, not equally effective for all skin types, and always requires at least twilight sleep.
This method is primarily used for younger patients where a moderate lifting effect is sufficient.

3. Gliding Brow Lift – Dr. Spiegl’s preferred method

The Gliding Brow Lift is a modern, minimally invasive technique considered by many to be an advancement of the endoscopic lift. In this procedure, the forehead tissue is mobilized and repositioned in a gliding manner without putting it under severe tension or fixing it rigidly. Repositioning is performed using sutures that temporarily fix the skin to the lower layers for 3 to 4 days. These threads are then removed after a few days, and the bonding of the tissue layers is gradually replaced by a stable, intentional scar under the skin, which ensures the long-term result.

• leaves scars in the hairline that remain virtually invisible,
• allows for a short healing time,
• and fully preserves facial expressions.
