What is female intimate surgery?

Female intimate surgery includes procedures that can improve the shape and function of the external female genital region.
It can be performed for both aesthetic and medical reasons – such as discomfort caused by friction, asymmetries, or after childbirth.
The most common treatments include:

You should definitely bring all available medical reports from your patient history. If you decide to have the operation with Dr. Spiegl after receiving the cost estimate (the price of a labia reduction is approx. €3,500-4,500), an appointment for the operation will be agreed upon together. In this regard, it is important to know that in Austria, according to the law, two weeks must pass between the initial consultation and the surgical consent.

A gentle, discreet procedure

Labiaplasty and other intimate surgical procedures are usually performed on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay in one of our clinics in Salzburg or Tullnerfeld.
The duration of the operation is approximately 1 hour, usually under local anesthesia or general anesthesia – depending on your preference and medical indication.
The incisions are made as finely and inconspicuously as possible. Dr. Spiegl attaches the greatest importance to tissue preservation and natural anatomy – this means:

Why don’t you perform procedures on the male genitals?

Intimate surgery on men is much more prone to complications and the results are by far not as long-lasting or satisfying as with women. Dr. Spiegl has therefore decided for himself that he does not want to offer these procedures.

Can the labia grow back after reduction?

No, further growth is not to be expected. However, the aging process can continue to change the appearance; usually, the volume of the large labia is lost, which makes the small inner labia appear longer again.

What should be observed directly after labiaplasty?

After labiaplasty, it is important to strictly follow Dr. Spiegl’s postoperative instructions, including cooling for a few days and abstaining from sexual intercourse/tampon use for 3-4 weeks to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.

Can sexual sensation change after labiaplasty?

Yes, it is possible for sensation to change after correction. Both higher sensitivity and reduced sensitivity are possible, depending on the initial findings and the surgical technique. However, Dr. Spiegl is extremely careful with corrections in the intimate area, so that the probability of a deterioration is almost excluded.

How much does labiaplasty cost?

Does health insurance pay for the costs of labiaplasty?

Under certain circumstances, a correction for pathological enlargement (length of the inner labia of more than 4 cm) can be covered by health insurance. Dr. Spiegl is a private doctor without insurance contracts, so the service must be paid privately and the invoice then submitted to the appropriate insurance fund.
