Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweat production that goes beyond the normal level required for body temperature regulation. The underarms are particularly frequently affected, where sweating occurs even at rest or in cold conditions.

Suction curettage is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for the permanent treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis (heavy sweating in the armpits). During the procedure, the sweat-producing glands are specifically removed or destroyed.

How does the suction curettage work?

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia and takes about 60 minutes. Through small skin incisions, the subcutaneous fatty tissue is suctioned and curetted with special instruments, thereby removing a large portion of the sweat glands.

How long does healing take after suction curettage?

After the procedure, physical rest should be observed for a few days. Most patients are fit for work again after a few days. Sporting activities are generally possible again after about 2–3 weeks.
