Upper Eyelid Lift in Salzburg & Tullnerfeld – For an Awake, Fresh Look

Do you suffer from tired-looking eyes despite sufficient sleep? Excess skin on the upper eyelids and slack connective tissue in the eye area are often the reason for this. A surgical correction, an Upper Eyelid Lift – also called “Blepharoplasty” – can work wonders in this regard. Eyelid surgeries are among the most common aesthetic facial treatments and are the most frequently performed “Beauty Operations” in men overall.

The result: An open, fresh, and youthful look.

Why an Upper Eyelid Lift Makes Sense

An upper eyelid lift in Salzburg or Tullnerfeld is advisable when:

  • Hooded eyelids (Schlupflider) or excess skin on the upper eyelid (which can also be congenital) are present.
  • You have a tired or sad facial expression despite sufficient sleep.
  • The field of vision is restricted due to excess skin.
  • Disturbing wrinkles and skin excess are present on the upper eyelid.
  • You desire a fresher, more vital appearance.

The operation belongs to the routine procedures in aesthetic surgery and achieves long-lasting results.

Procedure of Your Upper Eyelid Lift with Dr. Spiegl

We take our time for your concerns. As with many other procedures, questions always arise during the process. If you are interested in an upper eyelid lift, you are welcome to schedule a consultation appointment with Dr. Spiegl.

Consultation & Analysis:

In a non-pressured appointment, questions are clarified, and you receive comprehensive advice. Furthermore, photo documentation of your patient history is created. You should definitely bring all available medical reports from your patient history. Should you decide to proceed with the operation after receiving the cost proposal from Dr. Spiegl, an appointment for the operation will be scheduled jointly. It is important to know that in Austria, legally, 2 weeks must elapse between the detailed consultation and the operation consent.

The OP Day:

After all remaining questions have been calmly clarified again, the sterile washing and covering of the operative field begins. A certain amount of time is then spent on marking the excess skin to be removed, in order to achieve the most symmetrical result possible. Then, the upper eyelids are numbed with a fine injection, so the procedure is completely painless; you will only feel the initial prick of the anesthetic needle. After that, you will only feel a slight pressure sensation.

Later, the excess skin and possibly small fat deposits are precisely removed, and the wounds are closed. The scar will lie in the natural eyelid crease and is barely visible later. After the OP, the eyelids are cooled to reduce the risk of swelling.

Aftercare:

Before the sutures are removed after approx. 7 days, aftercare at your home is immensely important. Therefore, please note the following points:

  • Wear dark sunglasses on the way home. You may be light-sensitive. The eye drops used during the operation may cause your vision to be blurry. This is only temporary and usually disappears within 24 hours.
  • Do not wear contact lenses for at least 2 weeks after the operation. Opt for glasses instead.
  • As long as you have blurry vision, you should avoid driving. Make sure you can safely and comfortably drive a vehicle. This is usually the case about 5-10 days after the operation.
  • It is important that you rest for the first 3-4 days after the operation. Ensure your head is in an elevated position while lying on your back. This helps to prevent swelling at the operative sites. Until the sutures are completely removed, you should cool the wound as often and as much as possible.

Return to Work & Sport:

When you can return to work after the OP depends on factors such as the type of work and the healing progress. If your activity involves minimal physical exertion and does not require heavy lifting, you may be able to become active again even before the suture removal, as soon as you feel comfortable.

If your work requires light physical activity or movement, you may have to take a break for 1-2 weeks. If your profession involves heavy lifting, strenuous physical activity, or manual labor, you may need to take 2 full weeks off to ensure proper healing and, above all, the reduction of swelling and to avoid complications.

When resuming sport or physical activities after an upper eyelid lift, you must be cautious. Consult with us regarding this.

Light activities such as walking or gentle stretching can usually be resumed within a few days to a week after the operation. Low-impact exercises such as stationary cycling or slow jogging can be gradually resumed after about 2 weeks. High-intensity sports such as weightlifting and activities that require intensive upper body movements should be avoided for approx. 3 weeks.

It is important to know that the healing process is different for every patient and that you must precisely follow your surgeon’s instructions. If you overexert yourself or return to sport too early, the risk of complications may increase.

Should you have any questions about our procedure, we look forward to welcoming you to our practice.

The Positive Effects of an Upper Eyelid Lift

An upper eyelid lift can significantly rejuvenate the appearance of the eye area and make the face look overall fresher and more awake. The procedure removes excess skin and possibly also fatty tissue. Despite the low risks associated with the operation, an upper eyelid lift usually leads to long-lasting, natural results.

The advantages at a glance:

  • An awake, rejuvenated, and friendly facial expression.
  • Removal of hooded eyelids and excess skin.
  • Possible improvement of the field of vision.
  • Permanent rejuvenation of the eye area.
  • Natural results without an “operated” look.

The final result is visible after 3-6 months and usually lasts for many years. However, most patients are socially presentable after just 10 days.

Typical Questions from My Patients

Does the procedure hurt? No. Due to the local anesthesia, the operation is pain-free; you will only feel the prick of the anesthetic injection right at the beginning. Afterwards, you will only feel a slight pressure sensation.

How long does the upper eyelid lift take? Usually 45-60 minutes.

When will I be socially presentable again? After 7-10 days, swelling and small bruises have usually subsided enough that you can go out. Even a few days before the suture removal, you can usually do simple things in public if you are not bothered by the small skin-colored adhesive strips.

Will visible scars remain? The fine scar lies in the natural eyelid crease and is barely recognizable later.

Can the upper eyelid lift be combined with other treatments? Yes – the combination with a CO2 laser treatment is particularly popular, as it additionally refines the skin structure and creates an extra harmonious result. The lower eyelids as well as the entire face can be treated here.
